In 1922, our grandfather, Frank Mamolito opened the Original Star Lunch at 214 N. Findley Street, across from the Jefferson Theater. During his 42 years of existence, Frank served thousands of people who enjoyed a very unique hot dog sauce. After his retirement in 1964, there were many owners of the Star Lunch but, it closed years ago.
After a 35 year teaching career, my brother Chuck and I decided to open Frank’s Star Lunch. From 1993 to present, we have served our family sauce at the SS.C.D. Lawn Festival hot dog stand. We thank my grandfather for his legacy and reputation and our mother, Frances Mamolito Hetrick for her inspiration and sharing the recipe! We look forward to carrying on the tradition.
