On Tuesday, March 10, 2020, the Punxsutawney Area School Board is scheduled to vote on a transportation contract - locking the school district in for 12 years with Tri-County Transportation. As employees currently working every day to get the children to and from school safely, we believe that selecting Tri-County Transportation, especially for 12 years, is a mistake! The State Auditor General recommends only a 5 year contract at a time. Unfortunately, due to shortages, there are not many school bus drivers standing in line waiting to be employed to drive kids to school. Together STA employees have 694 combined years experience. It is unfortunate that the district is only looking at saving money and not at the impact and consequences that affect over 0SCHOOL BUS OO 80 drivers and monitors and will most definitely affect students next year when their drivers are no longer there!
